Jaipur via Fatehpur

preserved red
sandstone “ghost
town” which was the
estranged capital of
mughal emperor
Akbar, built in 1569
and deserted when
its water supply
failed. Arrive

Day 06 -
Jaipur – Pushkar (By
Road) |

In Day Six, After
breakfast, we drive
on to Pushkar (130
km). The sacred
pilgrimage town of
Pushkar is famous
for its colourful
annual fair during
kartik poornima
(full moon) in the
November each year.
During this period,
the otherwise
peaceful and gentle
village on the banks
of holy Pushkar
looks like a riot of
colors when the
desert tribes and
camel caravans meet
to trade cattle,
camels, goat, sheep,
clothes, jewellery
and spices. Besides,
traders people from
all nooks and
corners of the world
come to the town to
take a dip in the
sacred Pushkar lake
on the night of the
full moon (Kartik
Purnima). A dip in
the lake is said to
absolve one of all
the sins. Upon
arrival , we check
into the Camp /
Hotel. The camp
consists of tents,
each with verandah,
bedroom and
bathroom. A large
dining tent serves
the best of
Rajasthani cuisine.
The focal point of
the camp is its
campfire around
which the evening
entertainment
program with
cocktails & rhythms
of the Thar-music,
dancing, magicians,
puppet shows,
jugglers, flaming
torches & camel
parades takes place.
After lunch and some
rest, we leave for
our afternoon tour
of Pushkar. We begin
our tour with a
visit to the famous
Brahma temple, the
only temple in teh
world that is
dedicated to this
deity. After
spending some time
there, we then go
vitit the nearby
Savitri Temple ,
Saraswati Temple
,Varah Temple etc.

Day 07 - Pushkar |

In Day Seven, Full
day at the Pushkar
fair. A day of fun,
frolic, games and
laughter greets you
as you make your way
to the fair. The
fair provides some
wonderful
photographic
opportunities and is
a rare change to see
Rajasthani women
decked out in all
their traditional
jewellery, dress and
finery Built as 'an
explosion of fun,

wafts through the
night, as the fires
die down and the
Rajasthani melodies
played on the
stringed ek-tara
come to a close. On
the night of the
full moon, the
pilgrims bathe by
moonlight, then send
marigold and rose
petals floating
across the lake on
green plate-like
leaves. It is worth
getting up early to
see the camels and
tribes rousing
themselves in the
pink of the dawn
desert light.

Day 08 -
Pushkar - Ajmer –
Delhi (By Road And
Train) |

In Day Eight, After
an early breakfast,
we drive to Ajmer
(15 Km) where upon
arrival we
straightaway proceed
for city tour. Ajmer
is a small
pilgrimage town that
is equally revered
by both Hindus and
Muslims alike. The
final resting place
of Khwaja Moinuddin
Chisti, the great
Sufi saint of the
Chisti Silsilah, who
laid the permanent
foundation of Islam
in India in 1192
A.D. by his
spiritual prowess
and peaceful
preaching, Ajmer,
located 135 km
southwest is one of
the most sacred
places of Muslim
pilgrimage in India.
It was founded in
7th century by
Ajaipal Chauhan who
named it Ajaimeru
the 'invincible
hill'. Here , he
built the Taragarh
Fort(Ajameru
Doorg)which was
India 's first hill
fort. The maousleum
(dargha) of the
great Sufi
saint,Khwaja
Moinuddin Chisti is
also located
here.Beyond the
Dargah is the Adhai
din ka Jhonpra an
ancient Sanskrit
college, which was
converted into
mosque in 1198 and
remains one of the
finest monuments of
medieval India. Late
Afternoon, we
proceed to the
railway station to
board the train to
Delhi . Transfer To
Delhi Airport For
Onward Destination. |
